To each their own but I think it was a brilliant move, you’re drawn to the black fin immediately but it doesn’t really register for a few moments. If it’d just been a beach scene it would have been like the hundreds of other suspense/horror posters that focus on a film’s niceties for effect, which is a bit lukewarm.
Also, putting the representational fin *on* the beach is a funny nod to the fact that, despite the warnings, people keep getting eaten in *Jaws*, as if the shark might as well be land-borne.
